Fidalgo Island is Home to...

Heading to Fidalgo Island? You're in for a treat. Home to Anacortes, the famous San Juan Island Ferry Dock and the spectacular, yet not very famous Washington Park.

Washington Park consists of rolling hills, rock outcrops overlooking picturesque vantage points and a series of trails for the hiker, bicycler or scenic car drive. You'll feel like you're already in the remote area of the San Juan Islands, without riding a ferry to a nearby island.

Washington Park is situated right in a "Rain Shadow". It's a unique location, the rain typically passes yielding an ideal place for you to stroll year round. Trails meander throughout the park, passing across forested hills and grassy knolls over looking the pristine waters below.

You'll have the ability to look across Rosario Strait, see the various Islands in the nearby distance, perhaps catch a glimpse of a passing Killer Whale or watch the harbor seals lounging about the giant kelp beds.

Surrounding the park is the 2.2 paved road, great for a bicycle trip, drive, or easy walk. Throughout the drive are numerous scenic locations, vistas and ideal places for the afternoon picnic. Getting to the park is easy. Exiting off of I-5 towards Anacortes, Fidalgo Island, follow State 20 West, obviously heading West. You'll drive a few miles passing farmland. Once you cross the bridge, with the oil refineries on the right, you're nearly there.

Turn right on Commercial Ave, left onto 12th Street and follow the signs to Washington Park. You'll drive by a few stores in Anacortes, Safeway, etc., be sure to pick up some "goodies" for you venture into Washington Park.
