McKenzie Pass Oregon
McKenzie Pass Oregon sits on one of Oregon's prominent scenic byways, the McKenzie Pass - Santiam Pass National Scenic Byway. If you're in the area, take the drive, it's well worth it. Starting in Sisters, the drive takes you through 2-passes and over some 82-miles of scenic roadway. You'll encounter the jagged lava landscapes and the dense forests. As you drive image what the area was like in 1860. The landscape was pretty much the same, however, there was no paved road. In 1860 today's nice paved road was a wagon trail. You can capture the essence of this scenic ride through Mckenzie Pass and Santiam Pass by heading west on Oregon Route 242 through the little town of Sisters. The scenic byway will loop around taking you up and over McKenzie Pass, along the McKenzie River, over Santiam Pass near Suttle Lake, Black Butte Resort then on back to Sisters. Plan on a minimum of 3-5 hours for driving. And the best time to go is between July through October. Driving conditions can become treacherous during the winter months and McKenzie Pass Oregon is closed during the winter. Do you have any information about McKenzie Pass Oregon?
