Oregon Trail Computer Game

The Oregon Trail Computer Game is a spectacular way of learning about life on the Oregon Trail. This game has entertained thousands of children and adults. (You can easily order it by clicking on the image to the right.)

We own the game and it has involved our entire neighborhood into bringing a wagon across the United States. The Oregon Trail 5th Edition Game works well on most computers, we’ve run Windows 95/98 and ME and haven’t had any problems whatsoever. The builders of the program are continually urgrading. In time they'll have another edition too.

The Oregon Trail computer game puts you at all of the odds that are faced while traveling by wagon train across the United States. You’ll have to make many decisions before embarking on the journey and many life situations while on the trail.

As parent's it's amazing to watch children use the necessary skills to accomplish many tasks. The beauty, children don't realize they are learning. It's a game where learning is absolute fun!

The game teaches: history, map reading, geography, critical thinking, managing a budget, problem solving, decision making, following directions, logical reasoning, handling emergencies, and social studies.

There are constant obstacles encountered while enroute on the trail and the players need to make crucial decisions to keep everyone healthy and alive.

Enhancing one’s reading skills and problem solving are a real plus with the Oregon Trail computer game. Even our 5-year old has figured out how to load up the wagon and bring it out west.

The game requires a certain sense of skill to calculate the necessary food and equipment for the long journey. And, as in real life, trouble is lurking on the trail. A family can run short of food, get bitten by a snake or even die from sickness.

It’s also possible to lose supplies along the way. To aquire more supplies on the trail requires some skill. You'll have to trade and use caution not to trade the wrong items. It could be detrimental to your crossing. The perils of real life are brought out in this fabulous Oregon Trail computer game.

As parents ourselves, we highly recommend the game. The game recommends children ages 9 and up; however, we’ve found that younger children can challenge themselves at this game too.

In a nutshell, your entire family can explore the west and live the adventure of the Oregon Trail. If you have a child that is studying Northwest History this is a fabulous study tool. We recommend that you begin your 2000-mile adventure with the Oregon Trail computer game.

If you know of another Oregon Trail Computer Game, please contact us and we'll inform other readers.
