Oregon Vacations...The Place To Vacation

Oregon provides a variety of Oregon Vacations...what are you looking for and Oregon just about has it all.

Oregon Coast

One of the best vacations that we like is exploring the Oregon Coast. It's relatively easy to have a self guided tour of the entire Oregon Coastline. If you have the luxury of driving then simply make your way over to the coast. If you have to fly in, Portland is probably your best bet. Rent a car and head west to the Pacific Ocean.

Oregon is one of the few states where the entire coast line belongs to the public. Simply find a public access route, and there are many, and make your way to the beach. The private property extends only to the end of the vegetation...then the rest is all yours!!! Yipiee!!!

You can, therefore, literally hike the entire Oregon Coastline for your Oregon Vacations. That may take you a few weeks since you have about 400 miles of open public coastline. Obviously, you can take shorter trips, either by foot or follow highway 101 in your vehicle.

Whether by vehicle, bicycle or foot stop in at these places:

Astoria
Seaside
Cannon Beach
Oregon Coast Light Houses

Bicycling

Bicycling the coastline is an option to also consider when developing your Oregon Vacations. Highway 101 is a very popular route for bicycling. Be careful though...it is a very busy highway.

If you plan on transporting your bicycles on your vehicle you can simply park your vehicle and begin your trip at a variety of locations. A great option is to camp or stay at one of the many hotel options in Seaside and bike to Cannon Beach. It's only about 10 miles away but makes for a great day outing and fabulous way to explore Cannon Beach.

Camping

If you're considering camping for one of your Oregon Vacations, you are at the right spot. Oregon is a campers paradise. There are over 1500 campgrounds to choose from. We've simplified your search a bit by providing the Top 10 Oregon Campgrounds .

Bring Your Kids On Your Oregon Vacations

If you plan on bringing Kids on any of your Oregon Vacations, we highly recommend the book, ExplOregon with Kids. There are a lot of good ideas of various places to take your Kids throughout the State of Oregon.

Another great book, is Fun With The Family in Oregon. We have learned, and probably you too, if the Kids are not happy while on vacation, you will not be happy either. Get the books and add some of the ideas into your Oregon Vacations.

An added note...there are many Bed & Breakfasts throughout Oregon. Most of them DO NOT accept children. If you are planning on staying at a bed & breakfast and have children, ask in advance.

Portland

If you like cities as part of your Oregon Vacations then the City of Roses, Portland is a must. Portland has an event or festival every month of the year. Check with the Portland Oregon's Visitors Association, 877-678-5263.

The Portland Visitor's Association also offers a self-guiding tour brochures and city maps. Well worth stopping and getting the info or call ahead.

Adventure

There's a lot of adventure opportunity for any of your Oregon Vacations. Plan it in your Oregon Vacations. Oregon is known as the Evergreen Playground. Depending on your stay in and around the Portland area, take advantage of visiting Mt. Hood. It rises 11,239 feet above sea-level. Timberline Lodge is a great vantage point to view the Mountain and if you'd prefer, begin the trek to the summit.

If you are around the Portland area, be sure to hope on a small plane and check out Mount St. Helens. It's a facinating view flying over the vast destruction created from a volcanic erruption in recent years. It gave us the feeling of how powerful nature is.

If you prefer, you can hope on a Gray Line guided bus tour of Mount St. Helens. It's a must-see while you visit the Portland area. For schedules and reservations call 800-422-7042.

Eastern Oregon

Central Oregon

Don't forget to visit the most popular site in Oregon, Crater Lake. This lake is magnificant. You'll be impressed.
