Sand Castle Competition ... Federal Way, WA
The Sand Castle Competition is coming to Federal Way, WA this coming September 2010. This is the World Championship, 63 contenders will come to Federal Way from 17 nations. September 8-11: This is the doubles sand castle competition. Each team, consisting of 2-individuals will have 6-hours to prepare sand for their initial carvings. They will form blocks of sand, compressing them to the right consistency for making their sand sculpture. Once completed, they will have 22-hours between September 9-11 to complete their carving. September 12: Display sculptures will be carved and displayed by Master sculptors. September 15-18: This is the solo and team sand castle competition. Teams average 5-members alongside of the solo competitors, will prepare their sand for the remainder weeks carvings. September 18: Judging and awards will be presented by a panel of international sculptors, three Americans, one Swiss and one Russian. September 19-October 3 you'll have the chance to meet the sand castle competitors and their works. The event runs from 9am to 8 pm Monday through Saturday and 10 am to 6 pm on Sunday, $8.50/adults and $6.50/children & seniors.
