Sea Lion Caves on the Oregon Coast

by Maggie Olsen
(North Dakota)

We really liked the Sea Lion Caves. The elevator was a nice ride but the walk down into the caves was a little challenging for me as I am a little unsteady on my feet. But when we got to the caves, I was amazed! Those sea lions are huge and all over the place. We put the camera up to the fence and got some great photos too, looks like we were right next to the sea lions.

When you're traveling along the Oregon Coast, the caves are a must see. It took us about two hours, but that included time shopping in the gift shop and taking pictures of the sea lions and beautiful ocean views.

The parking lot was packed but people seemed to come and go so we didn't have any problem parking. We came on a sunny day, I imagine if it's raining it might be a little bit slower. Even so, we had no problem parking and seeing the sea lions. It costs to enter the sea lion caves but if you want to just shop at the gift shop, there's no charge. Also, lot's of good information in the gift shop about the caves.

We really liked it and hope to return again.

Oh, the information you have on the web site about the Oregon Coast was perfect, we just followed it. When your staff has time, it would be nice to include even more information but it's nice the way it is too.
