Seattle Beaches...There are a host of fine beaches throughout the Seattle
area, beaches that are perfect for the family setting or beaches for the more
"people-watching" activities. You'll find the perfect beach for you, a
secluded, protected beach or an active beach. Some of the beaches are
truly a spectacular sight with incredible backdrop like the City of Seattle, Mt.
Rainier or the Olympic Mountains.
You can't go wrong with Seattle Beaches, with so much water in the area, a
beach is just minutes away from your immediate location. Just look around
and you'll likely see a nearby beach.
Seattle Beaches...
Alki Beach - 1702 Alki Ave. SW, Seattle...This beach is probably the
most popular of the Seattle beaches. Located in West Seattle, considered
the "birth-place" of Seattle (Arthur Denny, Seattle's pioneer, anchored his
ships off Alki Beach in the 1800's). The beach offers a great view of
Seattle, neighboring islands and the pristine Puget Sound waters. You'll
find a host of activities; bicycling, skating, walking, beachcombing,
sun-bathing, sand volley, and the most popular activity, "people-watching".
Chism Beach Park - 1175 96th Ave. SE, Bellevue...A nice family beach
for swimming with a play area.
Clarke Beach - E Mercer Way, Mercer Island...Engage in swimming with a
diving board, docks and a picnic area.
Clyde Beach Park - 2 92nd Ave. SE, Bellevue...This is an expanded
beach with a boathouse, swimming and a children's play area.
Discovery Park Beach - 3801 W Government Way, Seattle...This is the
largest city park in Seattle and is one of the prominent Seattle beaches.
Here you can meander through some 2-miles of protected tidal beaches.
Enatai Beach Park - 3519 108th Ave. SE, Bellevue...Here you'll have a
sneak preview of a scenic overlook on Lake Washington. You have access to
canoeing, kayaking, and swimming.
Golden Gardens Park - 8499 Seaview Place NW, Seattle...This beach
offers great views of the distant Olympic Mountains, great sand beach for
sprawling about sun-bathing, a nearby fishing pier and lot's of
"people-watching". This is one of the Seattle beaches that makes
for an easy beginning scuba dive. The beach gently slopes on a sandy
bottom. It's not overly exciting underwater, but getting the feel for
scuba diving makes it relatively safe and easy.
Green Lake Park West Beach - 7312 W Green Lake Drive, Seattle...A
small lake located just North of Seattle, provides a swimming raft and the
opportunity to stroll around the popular little lake. This is one of the
oldest of Seattle beaches, Green Lake was a popular tourist area for the early
settlers.
Groveland Beach - 8000 SE 58th St., Mercer Island...Nice swimming for
children with a playground.
Houghton Beach Park - 5811 Lake Washington Blvd., Kirkland...During
the summer you can participate in swimming activities with a nearby playground.
The dock offers fishing and kayak launching capabilities.
Idylwood Beach Park - 3650 W Lake Sammamish Pkwy NE, Redmond -
Features a swimming area, bathhouse and small boat launch for car tops boats, no
trailers.
Juanita Beach Park - 9703 NE Juanita Beach Drive, Kirkland...An
enclosed swimming area, great for children, picnic shelters, public dock,
fishing area and playground.
Luther Burbank Park - 2040 84th Ave SE, Mercer Island...A large play
area with swimming, public fishing pier, and public boat dock.
Madison Beach - 1900 43rd E. Seattle...Nice swimming raft with a
diving board. Has a play area for kids.
Madrona Beach - 853 Lake Washington Blvd., Seattle...Has a play area
for children, swimming raft with a diving board.
Matthews Beach Park - 9300 51st Ave NE, Seattle...Features a swimming
raft with a children playing area.
Meydenbauer Beach Park - 419 98th Ave. NE, Bellevue...Right in the
center of Meydenbauer Bay. This park features volleyball, swimming and a
children's play area.
Mount Baker Beach - 2301 Lake Washington Blvd., Seattle...Swimming
raft with a diving board, fishing pier.
Newcastle Beach Park - 4400 Lake Washington Blvd., Bellevue...This is
a 29-acre park with a large swimming beach, fishing dock, nature trail and
children's play area.
Owens Beach - Point Defiance Park - 5400 N Pearl St,.
Tacoma...Beautiful stretch of beach surrounded by some old growth forest in
Point Defiance Park. You'll get the magnificent views of the Pristine
Puget Sound Waters and Vashon Island. The water is cold but the defiant
swim in spite of the cold. Bring your picnic and enjoy eating along the
beach or one of the picnic shelters. Enjoy a ferry boat ride at the nearby
ferry dock.
Seward Park Beach - 5902 Lake Washington Blvd., Seattle - This is one
of our favorite of Seattle Beaches. You can engage in a nice swim to a
raft with a diving board, play in the children's playground and walk the 2-mile
loop. It simply gorgeous with Mount Rainier looming in the distance above
the picturesque waters of lake Washington.
Titlow Beach - 8425 6th Ave, Tacoma...Great place for sun-bathing and
"people-watching". Launch your kayaks or jump in for a scuba dive.
Warren G. Magnuson Park - 7400 Sand Point Way NE., Seattle...Features
a pebble shoreline with swimming, children's wading pool and picnic areas.
Waverly Beach Park - 633 Waverly Way, Kirkland...A nice swimming area
with a public dock, fishing and a children's playground.
