Seattle Goes Green
Major Greg Nickels leads the way as Seattle goes green. Recently, Seattle Mayor Greg Nickels proposed a $0.20 charge for each plastic bag used for bagging groceries. The plan is to charge grocery store customers a $0.20 charge for packaging their groceries into plastic bags. This charge is a way to urge shoppers to stop using plastic bags. Many of the plastic bags are entering our landfills, it's time to change the way we manage our waste.Additionally, as Seattle goes green, you'll easily notice the city is encouraging bicycling and pedestrian traffic. Bicycling throughout Seattle is encouraged. With a number of established bike paths and bike lanes, you can see Seattle's finest from the ease of a bike. The challenge is the numerous hills but if you plan your trip accordingly you can avoid many hills.
