Hello and welcome to Seattle, an exciting place for your Seattle vacation. You'll love Seattle, it happens to be our base area where we leap across in the discovery process of our planet. We developed Personalized Tour's of the Seattle area, giving thousands of individuals a glimpse into the Seattle area. Now, we give it to you, right here! We'll share with you some of those intimate secrets that are often over-looked in tour books. You'll get the insights to make your Seattle vacation the most memorable. And quite frankly, Seattle offers some romantic areas that you'll simply have to check out. Getting Here... If you're flying in you'll arrive at SeaTac International airport, just south of Seattle some 10 miles or so. The airport is relatively small compared to the larger city airports; you'll move about quickly regardless of the seemingly ongoing construction projects. For discount airfare tickets, check out our Travel Network to support your Seattle vacation. Seattle is easy to fly into due to the mild climate and a hub for Alaska Airlines, offering several flights to various U.S. cities. Where to Stay... When you arrive at SeaTac International Airport, you have a host of hotels nearby the airport. Granted, these hotels make it easy access to the airport and often over-looked, they are in a strategic position to act as a base to explore the entire Seattle area. Most of the hotels near the airport are located along Highway 99. This same highway will provide an alternate route into Seattle or Tacoma. Due to the high population density, our traffic here is getting fairly congested. An alternate route, instead of the heavily traffic route of Intersate-5 is Highway 99. It runs north and south offering easy access also to some scenic drives. We'll explain more about the scenic routes later. If an airport area hotel meets your Seattle vacation qualifications, simply go to our Travel Network and check out your options. The hotels offer airport shuttles and/or you can pick up a rental car at the airport and simply drive a few blocks to your hotel. If you want to get in the mix of things you can stay in the downtown area of Seattle. You can pick up your rental car or a shuttle and head into Seattle. If you plan on staying in the downtown section of Seattle, you really don't need a rental car, unless you want to discover the outlying areas of Seattle. Seattle offers free bus service around the downtown area and walking is a good choice too. In the downtown area you also have a choice of several hotels. One of the most unique is the Edge Water Inn. This hotel is located right along the waters edge offering fabulous scenic views and easy access to Seattle's waterfront. Feel free to check the listings in our Travel Network. Things To Do In Seattle... There's a host of opportunities to explore while in Seattle to make your Seattle vacation fun and exciting. Our favorites are the Space Needle area, riding the ferries, Seattle's Waterfront and strolling through the downtown area. Scenic Drive... Here's a scenic drive I was referring to when you leave the airport. As you exit the airport, take the exit to International Blvd (Highway 99). Head south on International Blvd, turn right, heading west on S 188th. Travel a couple of miles until you reach SW Normandy Rd, turn left. Travel another mile or so and turn left on Marine View Drive. (See the map at MapQuest for details, type in SeaTac Airport.) Head south on Marine View Drive as far as you'd like. The road winds about giving you spectacular views overlooking Puget Sound, the Olympic Mountains, nearby islands and a feel of the Northwest. Be sure to explore the host of articles in the INDEX for greater insights into the Northwest and specifically your Seattle vacation.
