Shopping for Airfares

Low Airfare Resources

Shopping for Airfares is all in the timing. Just as you would shop for deals in retail stores, airfares are similar yet a little tricky.

While searching for the best airfare price, the challenge is always, "buy now or wait until a better deal". I compare that with buying my summer boating equipment. I can buy now and get the specific equipment I want or I can wait until the end of the summer when everything goes on sale. The problem, I don't get the selection to choose from yet I get a lower price.

Airfares are similar. During high peak seasons to various destinations the ticket price is high and the published fares are set months in advance. You can opt to buy now and pay the high cost or you can wait until the costs go down. The problem, how long do you have to wait? And will there be any remaining seats available when you want to travel?

Obviously the best time to travel is off-peak and with a flexible schedule that way you're not subject to high ticket prices.

The best place to start your shopping for airfares is online. You must keep in mind, however, that online airfares can appear and disappear rather fast. If you see a competitive price, buy the ticket, it may not be there later.

If you're apprehensive about purchasing a ticket online use a Travel Agency but expect to pay a service fee. A Travel Agent does have the ability to conduct searches that the general public does not have access to, therefore, you may find a better rate through an agent.
